Touched and Reborn
@yashrai
We have just completed our journey through the Grain Rain season. As I went for a walk earlier this afternoon, I noticed the growth of the grass in particular. Not only were those verdant stalks flourishing enough to make a whistle out of them, but the heads had begun to appear. Miniature wheat fields in the lawns! It has truly been two weeks of growth and transformation. There’s no stopping nature now as we dive joyfully into summer.
These past two weeks have found me outdoors, working with my husband to build a garden. Amid our heaving and hoeing, one could not help but pause and revel in the light. The evening sky was crystalline, as joyful and as pure as champagne. It is difficult to describe this light because it felt so sweet, so fair, and so innocent. Anything the light touched was reborn.
Yes, the world feels reborn right now. Everything is fresh and new as it ever was. Every day, a new wonder to discover, a new marvel. I am reminded of how the trees sway in the storm with their leaves on. I notice how far the ivy climbs up our tree — high! And the dandelions, oh, the dandelions. The biggest I’ve ever seen, I swear.
Now is not a time of tricks or malice, of snears or snors. It’s a time of attentiveness — let us all watch as a new world is created before our very eyes.
